On December 7, 2016, the State Intellectual Property Office (hereinafter referred to as SIPO) announced a winning list of The 18th Wipo-Sipo Award for Chinese outstanding Patented Invention & Industrial Design, there are eight patents from the construction machinery industry were awarded the "Excellence Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention" and "Excellence Award for Chinese outstanding Industrial Design."

In order to deepen the implementation of national intellectual property strategy and innovation-driven development strategy, accelerate the construction of intellectual property power, Strengthen the work of the creation, application, protection and management of intellectual property rights; since March 2016, the SIPO and the World Intellectual Property Organization (hereinafter referred to as WIPO)  have been launching selection work of the 18th Wipo-Sipo Award, to encourage and praise the patentee and inventor (designer) who has made outstanding contributions for the technical (design) innovation and social economic development.

According to the Evaluation Method of "China Wipo-Sipo Award", those patents were recommended by: relevant departments of the State Council, local intellectual property offices, the national industry associations, the Chinese Academy of Sciences academicians and the Chinese Academy of Engineering academicians etc. It reviewed by the Wipo-Sipo Award Review Committee and audited by the SIPO and the WIPO. The SIPO and the WIPO decided to grant 20 Gold Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention, 5 Gold Award for Chinese Outstanding Industrial Design, 568 Excellence Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention, 65 Excellence Award for Chinese Outstanding Industrial Design.

In this selection, there are total of eight patents from Chinese construction machinery industry were awarded the "Excellence Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention " and "Excellence Award for Chinese Outstanding Industrial Design". The "Garbage Sorting System & Method" (Patent No. ZL201210512351.1) from Changsha ZOOMLION Environmental & Sanitation Machinery Co., Ltd. was recommended by CCMA and won the Excellence Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention.
